On April 4, 2025, the Coalition of Women Human Rights Defenders Tanzania (CWHRDs TZ) convened its Fifth Annual General Meeting for the year 2024. The meeting brought together around 60 members from both Mainland Tanzania and the Islands (Unguja and Pemba), participating both in person and virtually. This important gathering provided members with the opportunity to reflect on the Coalition’s progress in 2024 and to develop strategies for implementation in 2025. Key issues discussed by the Women Human Rights Defenders included: Planned initiatives by the Coalition Secretariat to enhance and strengthen efforts aimed at empowering members, Improving the management of financial resources, Forming skilled teams to support member organizations in building and strengthening their capacities at the zonal level. Furthermore, the meeting explored various strategies the Coalition will employ to advance the work of women human rights defenders, including: Strengthening protection and security within their working environments, Enhancing members' capacities to apply different self-protection methods while carrying out their duties, especially in high-risk areas.
